Drift Points, project 6 of 9
Case study Trading & incentives · Dec 2023 – Jan 2024
Place a compact Driver badge inside the exchange. Expand it for points, risk, rank, and progression; reserve teams and circuits for a later phase.
Problem
A separate points destination risked disconnecting rewards from the trading behavior they were meant to encourage.
Approach
Place a compact Driver badge inside the exchange. Expand it for points, risk, rank, and progression; reserve teams and circuits for a later phase.
Trial outcome
Designed entry, earning, badge, and dashboard states with five progression levels informed by trading behavior. This was exploratory trial work, not a shipped Drift engagement.
Product states, decisions, and the system behind them.
The existing product ecosystem
My consulting work explored how a points-based incentive system could integrate into Drift's existing trading experience. Working within an established product architecture required understanding its component systems, trading workflows, and cross-platform interaction patterns.

Price, size, leverage, and order controls within the trading workflow.

01
The dashboard connects point balance, history, and active positions to a path back into trading.
02
Entry states explain earning; the expanded badge reveals points, time, risk, level, and race position.
03
Levels and race progress reflect trading behavior. Team and circuit states remain future concepts outside the MVP.
04
Reward colors stay distinct from financial red/green signals, keeping the small control legible without confusing money and points.
05
Crossed flags, spectral gradients, and neon motion bring a racing identity into Drift's dark exchange.
